When you contact the surgery by telephone you will hear a number of options and you can choose which service you need, these are:
Press 1 to speak to a Practice Administrator about appointments
Press 2 to speak to a Practice Administrator about test results, fit notes, home visits or any other queries
Press 3 to order repeat medication between 8am and 4pm
Please note that all telephone calls to and from the surgery are recorded for training and monitoring purposes.
We have recently been asked on a number of occasions whether the surgery has an email address that can be used for patients to contact us. We do not use email for patient communication for a number of reasons:
• GP workload is managed in terms of the number of appointments and patient contacts they can feasibly manage within their working day, alongside home visits, prescriptions, hospital/clinical correspondence, meetings/training, etc. If we pass on email messages and queries then this is a ‘hidden’ and potentially unlimited workload which our doctors simply do not have capacity to take on at present
• It is likely that the GP may need to see or speak to you following your query. Contacting you via email may mean questions can go back and forth between you and the surgery. This can lead to a delay in the advice we need to give to you and may lead to confusion. It is better to have one discussion either over the telephone or face to face to deal with your query in one contact.
• Incoming emails would need to be monitored and we don’t currently have the staffing levels to guarantee that these would be looked at on a regular basis.
